West Coast Wildlife – Education, Research & Living in Harmony
At West Coast Wildlife, our mission is rooted in a simple truth: we share this land. From coastal black bears to soaring eagles, the wild is not just around us—it’s a vital part of who we are. Based on the Sunshine Coast, West Coast Wildlife is a grassroots initiative dedicated to fostering understanding, safety, and coexistence between humans and the animals we live alongside.
We offer wildlife education programs in schools across the region—teaching the next generation about local species, ecology, and how to live responsibly in wild spaces. Our presentations blend science, storytelling, and hands-on materials to inspire wonder and respect for the natural world.
Beyond the classroom, our field research and data gathering focuses on patterns of human-wildlife interaction, identifying risks and opportunities to reduce conflict before it happens. Our team is often out canvassing communities, talking with residents, offering guidance, and delivering non-lethal conflict resolution strategies that actually work—from secure waste practices to habitat mapping and deterrent tools.
We champion novel, humane solutions for a modern world increasingly built into wilderness. Whether it’s helping landowners rethink fencing or collaborating with municipalities on wildlife corridors, we bring creativity and compassion to the front lines of coexistence.
West Coast Wildlife isn’t just about protecting animals—it’s about building a culture of care, respect, and accountability between people and nature.
