Squintwerks Explainer

Overview:

Squintwerks is a novel augmented reality experience leveraging Google's ARcore to track objects in real space. It is a system that links short-form video content (up to 120 seconds) with static images using augmented reality (AR). It functions through a proprietary combination of image recognition and QR-based passcodes. The user-facing app is called the Squintwerks Viewer, while the content creation tool used internally is referred to as the Writer.

Core Components

1. Squintwerks Writer (Internal Use Only)

PC-based tool

Inputs: a static image (JPEG or PNG) and a video file (MP4, max 60 seconds)

Function: links the video to the image using ARCore-compatible object recognition

Generates a unique QR passcode for the Viewer to load the video

Stores passcodes and corresponding media files on a backend database

2. Squintwerks Viewer (Mobile App)

User installs via App Store

Opens directly to an AR camera interface

Features:

Translucent brand placement on the screen

Drop-down menu for toggling available triggers (collected passcodes)

Translucent record button for optional screen recording

Basic analytics capability (manual report sharing for now)

Simple UI to make scanning and discovering videos intuitive

3. Backend Database (Web Admin Only)

Stores all MP4 videos and image triggers

Maps each passcode to its video/image pair

Backend only: no public-facing content

Provides download/update capability to the Viewer upon QR scan

User Experience Flow

A customer receives a Squintwerks passcode (QR code)

Scanning the passcode with the Viewer downloads and unlocks a specific video-object combo

The user then scans the real-world object or image (aka the "Theater") with their camera

The Viewer recognizes the object and plays the linked video within the bounds of the trigger, moving with the object in frame.

Passcodes can be offered at the front of a space (e.g. museum entrance) or printed beside relevant objects

Comparable Apps would be Eyejack and 8thwall both of which although can provide the same services however they do not specialize in our niche and are focusing on creating ar objects moving through space
